Face Validity

The extent to which a survey appears to measure what it claims, based on a superficial review.

Face validity considers whether items “look like” they measure the construct, based on a quick review. While not definitive, it helps flag confusing or off-target prompts early.

Combine face checks with deeper evidence for content and construct validity in pilots.
