Cognitive Load

The total amount of mental effort being used in working memory at a given time.

Cognitive load is the mental effort required to process a task. Young children have limited working memory, so long questions and many options can overwhelm them.

Our design reduces load using two-choice items, concise wording, visual supports, and audio narration. This improves data quality and keeps sessions brief.
